Fletcher Lodge offers the charm and personal attention of a bed and breakfast whilst extending the amenities associated with full service Hotels. Built by Sir James Fletcher in 1924 to serve as his private residence whilst he oversaw the construction of the New Zealand and South Seas Exhibition complex, this historic property was aptly named by its previous owners. Guests are welcome to relax at any time in the impressive, richly panelled Oak room. On cooler evenings relax in front of the fire and enjoy a complimentary port.

The Lodge offers six beautifully appointed rooms, each reflecting an area of Dunedin's wealth and heritage. All beds feature superbly comfortable mattresses, divine crisp cotton linen sheets and down duvets The Edinburgh Suite entails an entrance vestibule from the main hallway opening into the spacious bedroom from where you are led out onto the sun drenched private deck which offers enchanting views of the peninsula, town, garden and valley - a sunny stay is assured. In the main bedroom, original steel windows give handsome views of the sculpted garden and patio area.

The palatial bathroom is accessed via the vestibule and features both a solid cast iron claw foot bath and full size shower unit. Exquisitely and fully tiled with underfloor heating, complimentary toiletries are a standard feature. The bedroom is furnished with Antique Scandinavian Pine imported specially from Europe. Relax in waffle cotton robes on the King Size Bed with matching full height four door wardrobe, bedside cabinets and chest of drawers. Writing Bureau and armchair complete this room superbly.

The Craigard Room is opulent and is situated on the ground floor to the rear of the property having views of the new terrace and garden. Incorporating a splendid curved bay window, bathing the room in sunlight throughout the day, a peaceful and luxurious stay awaits every visitor. A pair of French doors connects to the terrace outside.

The Craigard Room is lavishly furnished with Antique Mahogany Furniture imported from Indonesia specifically for this room. This includes a Super King Four Poster bed, matching armoire and bedside cabinets. Writing bureau and handmade Malaysian Raffle Arm Chairs complete this ensemble. The lavish ensuite bathroom is serviced by a bath with shower mixer, and double sink vanity unit commissioned by the owners from local craftsman. Hairdryer and tiled under floor heating are standard with associated complimentary toiletries. The Wickliffe Room is a sunny, spacious room, that overlooks the garden and city.

Its romantic setting is a favorite with honeymooners. Featuring a magnificent carved French Antique Armoir and matching Queen bed with a wine coloured velvet couch and Oak work desk. Sumptiously appointed tiled ensuite bathroom with Italian fittings, under-floor heating. Bath with shower mixer and built in hairdryer. The Cargill Room is a spacious room with garden and city views, ornate ceiling and richly furnished with a flame mahogany chest, deep blue velvet couch, and a fine carved victorian dresser complement the hand carved bed heads.

Wonderfully appointed ensuite bathroom with maroon and cream tiles with underfloor heating, bath with shower mixer, built-in hairdryer and complimentary toiletries.

Queen and King Single Bed.

Like all rooms this room has direct dial telephone and Sky Television. The Bracken Room has lots of charm - decorated in warm terracotta tones and furnished with an antique French queen bed and oak work desk.

Luxurious ensuite bathroom with shower, under floor heating as standard and associated complimentary toiletries. The Arran Room is situated on the ground floor and has a divine ornate fibrous plaster ceiling and original lead light windows.

Relax on the Super King/Twin Single beds or in an antique armchair. Bedside cabinet, writing bureau and leather-upholstered chair complete this room setting.

The ensuite bathroom has a large open shower, tiled, under floor heating, and complimentary toiletries. A complimentary breakfast is served each morning on fine china and silverware in the impressive Wedgwood Room.

Breakfast usually consists of fresh orange juice, a selection of cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruit salad, fresh-baked croissants, a selection of toasts, gourmet conserves, fresh coffee and various teas. Also available are eggs, either poached or scrambled with Danish smoked bacon served on English muffins.

Fletcher Lodge is a non-smoking environment. There is ample off-street parking, complimentary newspaper, latest lifestyle publications available in the Oak Room, tea, coffee and ironing facilities, fax and photocopier, and free internet access.
